The way I interpret the series of events is that after losing his arm and dying he encountered one of the demon ravens flock. There he saw visions of what was to come. SpletSwain is a Battle Mage champion who excels in the front-lines, crippling his opponents with powerful sustained damage and stealing their very souls to boost his own survivability. His passive, Ravenous Flock, causes enemy champions that die near Swain to drop a Soul Fragment, which his ravens bring to him.
