Your still going to have to have to re-line the tank -- I suggest skipping the MEK or acetone and going directly to a Caswell tank sealer kit. The Caswell repairs failed liners. The only prep you really need is drywall screws either dry or with water to remove the loose stuff.

Has anyone practical experience of the best means of removing the existing sealer ? ( Presumably new Por 15 isn't going to adhere to older Por 15 ). Web3 jul. 2024 · Long story short; I cleaned up the rust using POR-15 fuel tank sealer kit. I degreased first, then used the phosphoric acid tank cleaner. Aside from a few minute spots of light rust, the tank looks 95% clean bare metal now. I will let the tank dry for a few days and was going to seal the tank with the POR-15 sealer.
