However, Ford did not use the letters "I" or "O" in their date codes, as they are too similar to 1 and 0 (zero). So your casting date is October 21, 1996.

A, S or T = Model A being Generic full size ford, S being thunderbird and T for truck. WebSep 12, 2010 · A 5.0 is basically the same thing as a regular 302, but there are some differences, nothing major though. To split hairs, there are 2 different 5.0L engines, 1979-1984 and 1985-on. The "F" indicates 1990 - 1999. The "1" indicates the first year of that decade. And the S is the Car Line (which is Thunderbird). The Fourth digit "E" indicates Engine Group.
