Also, after rolling a crit on your attack roll, critical damage will be automatically added to the damage roll for that specific attack. I’ve looked everywhere … WebSep 3, 2024 · So, you have to see what current abilties you have used that are affected by short rest, check off the hit dice you want to use or remove, leave max HP reset unchecked. Select and confirm short rest and recheck off short rest abilties used. There does not appear to be a way to just change the hit dice availability on it's own as you note.

It is a limitation of the system, which may have been dictated by WOTC. What you CAN do is create a homebrew copy of a weapon that does the damage die you want, and change the other weapon properties (thrown, damage type, etc.). Copy the whole thing into a word processor, find and replace the +s.
